Here’s the new compressor I’m using.
Much more ‘beefy’ than its predecessor.
Also:
After much discussion and advice from many knowledgeable people,
I have decided to Slip-Roll .22 gauge steel to create the conical form, as this will be the quickest, cheapest, thinnest, and most accurate way to have a perfect/pure form with little to no imperfections [which would greatly show due to the sand.]
I have my metal, and access to the slip-roller I plan to use. I’ll get on the pictures as soon as I can, in the meantime; enjoy this catalogue shot of the compressor I’m using.
Enjoy!

recent news, advancements

Added additional nozzle to test out a system for multiple outputs.

Using new larger compressor- successful, currently with two outputs, soon to be three.

Finalizing details on materiality and process.

Jig crafting soon to be.

Strongly considering Turning Plaster form to create form, then vacuum-forming styrene with the form. Previously considered slump-formed Corian (R) with steel support structure.

Right now my decision of making this final comes down to three things:

-Time for Labor

-Cost of crafting and materials

-Limitation/Ability to utilize the shop’s facility to perform processes necessary

[what may not be able to be handled in our shop.]

This is where I stand today. I feel things are, as always, moving forward each time I take a look at things.

Pics soon of new development.

Update

it’s been a while, other deadlines became important, but now im back on track.

just bought some items soon to be used/documented on here.

the list includes:

-RITDYE brand dyes for dying sands [powder and liquid]

-Metal 5 Gallon Paint Mixer [drill attachment]

-5 Gallon Bucket & Lid

…..

still needed:

Screen Mesh for drying sands

….guess you can put one and two together and figure out my game plan.

still refining the final form.

key features include:

-able to let 2+ persons interact at once.

-ferrous material in-between Corian

-Approx 1-3 nozzles to pump sand

-COLORED SAND *** tests to commence!

-more to come !
